◎Origins
Approved by the Ministry of Education in February 1998, student recruitment began in August of the same year. In the first year we offered four year and two year programs.

◎Educational Goals 
Tajen Institute of Technology's Department of Recreation & Sports Management strives to meet two educational goals: 1) to meet the government, social and private sectors' qualifications for professional Recreation and Sport Management personnel, and 2) to meet the demands of the future Recreation and Sport Management Industry.

◎Programs
Since the first year this department has grown rapidly. We now offer university level programs and extension programs as follows:
‧Full time 2 and 4 year day university programs.
‧Full time 2 and 4 year night university programs.
‧Weekend part-time 2 year university program.
‧Professional 2 year extension program.
‧2 year continuing education program.

◎Department
Tajen Department of Recreation & Sports Management balances theory with practice by nurturing strong ties to industry leaders. Emphasis is placed on developing students' professional abilities by providing a Broad variety of theoretical and practical perspectives on Recreation and Leisure Education, Sports Science, Administration and Information Management as well as Education for Special Populations.

◎Faculty 
Tajen Institute of Technology's Department of Recreation & Sports Management has a faculty of two full professor, twelve associate professors and seven assistant professors as well as instructors with professional masters degrees from the United States.

◎Departmental Facilities
The department offers a SPA center weight training room, basketball courts, volleyball and tennis courts, billiard tables, ping pong martial arts studio, Professional diving equipment, sports massage studio aerobics studio and the largest indoor adjusted climbing wall in Asia.
