History
MIS department was founded in August 1998. Initially, a two-year-junior-college program was set up offering day and night programs. A five-year senior-high-school-Junior-college program was established in August 1999. Also, we start to offer tour-year-college program and two-year-college program in August 2003.
Objective
Our goal is to train students to be Information System Professionals. Upon completion of the program, Students will be equipped with the latest information management knowledge and skills. Strengthen medical information, mobile commerce, digital content which are in demand throughout business and medical institutions. Professional ethics and teamwork are also emphasized.
Special Features
Programs in this department emphasize, but not limited to, training in the following areas: system analysis and programming skill, the application and integration of information systems management for hospitals and other medical institutions, and the establishment of integrated center for mobile commerce development.
Introduction Overview
 Our program put equal emphasis on information and management. On the information side, we give attention to information technology and systems, and our management courses focus on medical information management, financial management, human resource management, electronic commerce, marketing, etc. There are three research groups in our department which include Information Technology & Applications (ITA), Information Security & Quantitative Computing (ISQC) and Information Systems & Management (ISM).
We especially seed to train students in how to bring information technology into an organization's management information system and bring quantitative methods to bear in management work. We hope that students with this type of training will be able to use information technology to upgrade our nation's industries. Our different program currently has 1281 students enrolled in this department with 4-year institute undergraduates program, 2-year institute undergraduates program, 2-year and 5-year college program, with 25 full-time faculties.
Faculty
All faculty members have master degrees or above. Their research interests are in the areas of Information Management Systems, Computer Science, or Electronic Engineering. Some faculty members also have solid industry working experience.
Alumni
 Departmental graduates have, over the past 10 years, pursued a variety of careers in fields as diverse as hospital, industry, academia, marketing and finance. Most of them play important roles in the industrial infrastructure which is vital to Taiwan's competitiveness in the global economy. Most importantly, they carry on the distinguished tradition of the Institute in engineering practice.
Facilites
The facilities of the MIS Department are state-of-the-art and are upgraded when new technology or knowledge becomes available. Current facilities include Sun Workstations (Spare 20, Netra 1, and Spare 5), Campus optical fiber network linked to the Internet, Cisco Network Lab, Student Project Lab, RFID Applied Systems Lab, E-commerce Lab, Information Security Lab, Digital Learning & Content Lab, Medical Information Management System Lab, ITS On-line Teaching Tutoring Lab, IRS Digital Iterative and Learning Classroom, QR Code Mobile Coding System, Linux servers, Window NT servers, and about 300 purchases.
Career Prospects
Future employment for MIS graduates lies in the following areas: departments of corporate information systems, departments of hospital information systems, computer software companies, and government information centers (must pass official exams). For pursuing higher education, graduates can be enrolled in graduated school or other institutions in Taiwan or other countries.
