◎History in Brief
In responding to the needs and challenges in health care, the Department of Healthcare Administration has operated since 1995 and enjoys an excellent reputation among health care providers in southern Taiwan
Through our curriculum, that combines a sound campus course array with a practicum, graduates find themselves well prepared and very competitive in the job market.
The department is designed to meet the need for entry-level management personnel and to open career opportunities in hospitals, health centers, public health departments, health planning agencies, home health agencies, and other health-related facilities. In the initial stage of the department, it offered only five-year junior college and two-year programs. In 1999, the department began to admit two-year undergraduate students and also discontinued the five-year junior college program. The four-year undergraduate program began in the year of 2001. In addition, the department also offers the two-year college program and two-year undergraduate executive programs.
◎Educational Objectives
The Department aims to prepare students to fill entry or middle level positions in healthcare organizations. Our graduates are expected to have great theoretical knowledge and solid practices to help their prospective employers to solving health care problems.

◎Special Features
One of the special features of Tajen's Healthcare Administration program is to offer bright and committed students the opportunity to work with faculty who are dedicated to preparing leaders in a wide variety of health care organizations.
◎Faculty
Faculty members hold doctoral or Masters degrees, and/or have substantial experience in the related fields. Currently, 21 full-time faculty members who received a Ph.D. or MS degree specialize in a wide variety of professional fields. Apart from conducting research and teaching in their area, they also play active roles in the health industry. In addition, the department invites experienced health administrators and practitioners as part-time faculty members.
◎Facilities
Campus facilities that support teaching and research include computer software (SPSS statistics, SQL database system, etc.), PC servers, and high-speed campus network. Medical record lab, medical information system lab and e-learning classroom are established for teaching purpose.

Administration of programs and organizations in health care requires knowledge, skill and a strong sense of caring for others. It offers a balanced curriculum that is broadly interdisciplinary, calling upon the fields of management, economics, medical care facilities and organizations, public health, law, institutional practice, computer science, social sciences, accounting and finance, planning and strategic management, and health care research. In addition, the department also provides a one to six-month practice a health care facility. This practice screed at one of many affiliated health care facilities in all over Taiwan area.

◎Long-Term Goals
Research: To establish the graduate school program in health care administration to extend the health care administration education at Tajen.
Teaching: To continue to improve the quality of faculty members and to hire assistant professors and above as faculty members
◎Career Development
To provide students information on career opportunities and higher academic institutions. The major in health care administration prepares students to enter, or advance, into the management area in a variety of positions and organizations related to the health care field. A graduate could also admit to higher academic institutions to strengthen his/her knowledge and expertise.
