 Digital Arts and Multimedia Design ◎ Background
The Department of Digital Arts and Multimedia Design is established to cultivate specialized designers for digital media including animation, web design, digital game and digital content products, etc.
The department has set up a four-year program leading to a Bachelor degree, a two-year program for an associate degree and a two-year program for post-associate degree.
◎Educational Objectives
The Department aims to prepare students to fill entry or middle level positions in animation, web design and digital contentproduction in business enterprise or non-profit organizations.
Our graduates are expected to have sound theoretical knowledge and solid practices to help their prospective employers achieve their goals.
Students are expected to be able to fully expolit the creativeness of digital contents and become the fashion leader of the next generation.
◎Programs
Currently, a four-year Bachelor degree program, a two-year program for an associate degree and a two-year program for post-associate degree are set up.
◎Special Features
The Department focuses on teaching excellence, which is achieved by balancing theoretical foundation and practices.
Our courses not only cover the basic aesthetic and information technology literacy, but teamwork spirit and humanity are also emphasized. The Department also encourages establishing partnership with local business organizations to facilitate teaching and research.
◎Faculty
Faculty members hold doctoral or Masters degrees, and/or have substantial experience in the related fields.
◎Facilities
Campus facilities that support teaching and research include computer software (e-commerce system, business operation simulation system, SPSS statistics, LISREL 8.5 statistics, SQL database system, 3ds MAX), Sun Enterprise workstation, PC servers, more than eighteen computer labs, an interactive teaching room, and a professional studio room. Motion capture & Virtual Reality labs within will be established in the near future. We maintain both state-of-the-art computer facilities and up-to-date software that are accessible to all students and faculty within the Department of Digital Arts and Multimedia Design.
◎Curriculum
The curriculum consists of courses in three areas:
- core courses: Theory and application of colors, Multimedia literacy, Computer Graphic Design, Web Design, Network Programming, theory of human-factor engineering, etc.
- Digital Game Courses: 2D/3D Animation Basics, Game Production Design, Game Programming, Game Industry Analysis, etc..
- Digital Media Courses: Digital Videotography and Non-linear Editing, Commercial Design, Multimedia database System, Interactive Interface Design, Data Compression, special topics of culture and creativity business, etc.. The integration of these courses from different fields will provide students with greater understanding for future research.
◎Prospect
The fields of digital meida design offer a wide variety of occupational opportunities for graduates. Graduates can expect to be employed as web developers, logo designers, database specialists, network designers and private consultants.
