◎History
The object of the teaching program of the department is designed to produce skilled technicians capable of assisting in the design, operation and service of computers and their peripheral equipment. The program is organized to provide an up-to date curriculum in information technology, enabling students to continue their study in the graduate schools, or to gain responsible positions in one of the many clusters of the electronic and its related fields.

◎Educational Objectives
To accord with the high-tech policy of the Taiwanese government, and to follow the trend of the information technologies, the department has planned to lay emphasis on the study in the areas of digital content and bioinformatics, which are outlined in the following:
1.Technologies and Applications of Digital Content
－Signal processing of multi-media
－Technologies and applications of multi-media communications
－Database of multi-media networking
2.Applications of Bioinformatics
－Biological signal processing and applications
－Establishment of biological database

The courses integrate technological skills with theoretical disciplines. Students are encouraged to participate in contests and accreditation tests to become certified engineers.
