Eligibility
Currently we are welcome international students applying for an undergraduate program or a graduate program at Tajen University to seek for the bachelor degree or the master degree. An international student must have a bachelor degree to be eligible to enroll in a graduate program. International undergraduate students who have not yet completed bachelor degree may apply for the undergraduate program at Tajen University. However, if the undergraduate transcript does not verify graduation, a final transcript must be sent following the undergraduate graduation.
Applicants must have passed all the courses in the schools previously attended. Undergraduate applicants must have earned a “B” average or a standing of 80% for required courses related to their majors and must be recommended by the professors for obtaining scholarship.
Financial Aid
There are international full scholarships available for all of the international applicants. An international student who has full scholarship may be waived from the tuition and fees. International students can also apply for the Taiwan Scholarship offered by the government. Please refer to http://my.nthu.edu.tw/~ocfso/foreign/ for more government scholarships information. However, an applicant must choose only one scholarship if he or she were granted more than two scholarships from either Tajen University or Taiwan government. Work study are also available for international students to work legally on campus, and the pay is approximately US$95 a month.
Cost of Study
Currently undergraduate and graduate students pay approximately US$1,540 to US$ 1,710 per semester for tuition and fees.
Housing
and Living Costs
All international students will be provided with on-campus dormitory-style housing. For two-bed room, it costs approximately US$ 720 per semester per student; while for four-bed room, it costs about US$290 to US$420 per semester per student. Living expenses range from US$ 320 to US$ 470 per month. Food service is available for students who live on campus. The cost of food service is around US$ 320 per semester per student. Tajen University will promise to look for some outside financial grants for international students who have outstanding GPA to cover the housing and living costs but will not guarantee for those financial aids.
Location
Tajen is located
in Pintung County, the most south part of Taiwan. It is only eight kilometers
(5 miles) from the Pingtung Train Station and only takes 10 minutes from there
to arrive at Tajen via the Bus and takes 20 minutes from the Juru exit on Highway
3 by driving. Tajen school buses are also available for commuting students that
live in Pingtung, Kaohsiung and Tainan.
Applying 
All completed applications are firstly reviewed by the Office of Academic Affairs. The Office of Academic Affairs will forward all the applications to each expert faculty to evaluate the applicants’ potential and capability. Tajen University looks for a “B” or better in all the courses applicants had taken in previous institutions. Other admission requirements are set by different departments. Once the department makes a recommendation for admission, the Office of Academic Affairs will notify and send out the letter of acceptance to admitted students.
The deadline for submitting international applications is May 31. We encourage you to apply early to allow plenty of time to arrange for housing and financial assistance. All applicants are required to submit the following items:
- Two completed application forms.
- A statement of study plan (Chinese/English).
- A copy of diploma (in notarized Chinese or English translation).
- A copy of official transcript. Applicants must enclose certified English translation of school(s) records.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- A record of medical examination (including HIV test).
- Document of health and personal accident insurance or national health insurance upon registration. International students who have not bought insurance should pay for premiums, which will be handled by the school.
- A sufficient Financial Certificate. Before we can issue the letter of acceptance, we need to see a current original certified bank statement that shows the student will have sufficient funds available for the first academic year.
- US$ 35 check or money order payable to “Tajen University” for non-refundable application fee. The application will not be processed unless the fee is included. International students from sister universities can be waived from the application fee.
- A scholarship application form (optional).
Some programs may require other additional information. Applications are considered for admission for the fall semester only. Information about Tajen’s international admission is also available on the website http://www.tajen.edu.tw/etj/index_e.htm.
